The Echelon Conspiracy

Great Actors (Ed Burns, Ving Rhames, Charlie Sheen, Shane West). Great Locations (Bangkok, Prague, Moscow). Bad timing. Only months after Eagle Eye, Echelon Conspiracy was released with a near identical storyline. After receiving a new high tech cell phone as a gift, West finds himself receiving tips on making vast sums of money. Little did he know it was happening by a government super computer trying to gain his trust to get him to do even greater deeds for the Echelon computer. What follows is a search for the people behind the program and a realization of just how big of a situation they are dealing with.
Like I said, bad timing. As Yogi Berra said, "It was like Deja Vu, all over again." A few differences that make the story still entertaining but not enough to really set it apart. The music felt to me like it didnt fit the story... too techno and hard-hitting than the actual movie. The "super" computer itself was kind of funny because, for a modern movie, it looked like the program was running off the Apple IIe... One other thing, it's ridiculous to me when a supermodel(ish) spygirl is able to fight a male trained CIA agent. The girl had to weigh 100 pounds to his 200. I KNOW I could take anything from a flying punch to a Chuck Norris Special from someone like that. Maybe its empowering to women in the secret ops world, but its just not believable.

My elementary grading scale: Progressing Satisfactorily
1-10: 6
