It's amazing to me how far cartoons have come since the days when I was running around in backyard pretending to be a Thundercat. Monsters vs. Aliens is the new Dreamworks film that tells the story of the fight for Earth's existence between Galaxhar and his evil minions and the Monsters here on Earth struggling with their own self worth. When Susan gets blasted with an unidentified element from space, she becomes Ginormica the 80 foot tall woman and is forced into seclusion witht he rest of the worlds monsters. When the aliens plan their take over, the government is forced to unleash their secret weapons: the monsters.
Like many of the modern CGI movies out now, Aliens vs. Monsters is fun for both children and adults. Many of the jokes that slip by the youngsters will definitely be laughed at by those of us paying attention. Great lessons about acceptance, self-worth, standing up for what is right, and not letting yourself settle for 2nd best are all a part of this new flick. A good reminder to anyone who is feelin down about their situation, this movie is a great pick-me-up.
