It is assumed that film makers borrow ideas from past films to develop their own stories. It is NOT assumed however, that they should copy ideas from the other movies. The Graduates was a conglomeration of the past 20 teen movies rolled into one. Very similar situations and characters took the funny, important, and poignant parts from past movies and created this "new" movie. Needless to say, it was unoriginal. A group of 18 years graduate from high school and seek out one "last hurrah" before going off to college and never seeing eachother again. Sound familiar? Well, it should.
This was a low budget film so I wont be as harsh on the acting or filming itself. But the idea in general has been overplayed. A couple funny lines and scenes, but the rest was just deja vu. I will tell you one thing though, the music was great. Place a piece of cardboard over your screen and enjoy the music.
